About
A compact three-legged stool defined by a broad sculpted seat, traditional joinery, and a playful doughnut-shaped silhouette.
Nick’s Doughnut Stool belongs to a family of whimsical stools inspired by the low, simple, and robust seats traditionally used by dairy farmers. The familiar milking-stool form is reinterpreted through softened proportions and carefully shaped solid wood.
The generously rounded seat is machined into a smooth doughnut form with a shallow central opening. Its continuous curves emphasize the colour and natural grain of the selected wood while creating a tactile surface that invites touch.
Three tapered legs splay gently beneath the seat and terminate in distinctive turned ball feet. Each leg is joined directly to the seat using traditional wedged mortise-and-tenon construction, providing strength and stability while leaving the method of construction visible.
At 16 inches high, Nick’s Doughnut Stool works as a low occasional seat, bedside table, small side stool, or sculptural object in an entryway, bedroom, or living space.
Available in solid ash, maple, spotted maple, white oak, or red oak. Each wood brings a different grain, colour, and natural character to the sculpted form.
