About Hamilton Holmes
Nicholas Hamilton Holmes is a sculptor and furniture maker living and working in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Hamilton Holmes is a creative furniture and millwork studio grounded in craft, informed by art, and guided by sustainable principles. The work combines traditional methods with contemporary design, drawing on time-tested techniques such as hand-cut joinery and proportionally driven forms to achieve enduring quality.
From initial sketch to finished piece, each work is artisan made with careful attention to detail. The studio designs furniture intended to last for generations, objects meant to be lived with, cared for, and passed on rather than discarded.
Materials are sourced locally whenever possible, resulting in a low carbon footprint. Low-VOC finishes protect both makers and clients, and sustainable wages reflect a commitment to the value of skilled craftsmanship. Pieces are created with longevity and material responsibility in mind, allowing them to be reused, recycled, or eventually returned naturally to the earth.
Sculpture remains central to the studio’s practice and informs both artworks and furniture design. Bent, shaped, and moulded wood gives each piece a distinct sculptural presence valued by collectors and clients alike.
Holmes designs work that honors historical foundations while advancing a contemporary perspective, creating objects intended to endure both physically and culturally.
Hamilton Holmes collaborates closely with designers, architects, and trade professionals, offering trade pricing and project support. Contact the studio for trade program information and product details.
