About

The Doughnut Milking Stool was created at the Hamilton Holmes studio out of a pure desire for fun.

Inspired by the small stools historically used by dairy farmers, the design begins with something low, simple and robust, then pushes it into a more playful and sculptural form.

Three tapered solid white oak legs support the substantial doughnut-shaped seat. Each leg is joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon construction and ends in a turned ball foot, giving the stool its distinctive stance and a little extra character.

The seat is machined from solid wood into a soft, continuous form with a deep central opening and generously rounded edges. It is intentionally tactile, with curves that invite you to run your hand across the surface.

The stool is finished with the hand-painted OXALINO™ pattern, which travels across the seat, legs and ball feet while allowing the natural grain of the white oak to remain visible beneath. As the pattern wraps around each curved surface, the geometry shifts with it, emphasizing the shape of the stool from every angle.

Small, sturdy and versatile, it works as a low seat, bedside stool, entryway piece or occasional surface. It can carry you, or your stuff.
